About this tea
Morgan green is from Moganshan (Mt Morgan) in Zhejiang Province in China. I discovered this tea during my trail race in Mt Morgan in April 2026. Running across the misty mountain range, through bamboo forests, I somehow landed in the tea fields with the tea farmers working on the spring harvest. The spring bud is light yellow with a splash of green in it, lying in the spring rain like the babies who just woke up.
Talking to the locals after the race, I learned this tea is called Mogan Huangya. Huang means yellow, Ya means bud. Comparing to the infamous Longjing green tea, Mogan Huangya is less well-known, but the locals' all year long drink. The fresh spring tea leaves are usually made into both green and yellow teas.
I tried a cup of green, the flowing green embraced me thought my nose, tongue and all the senses. It's the taste of the spring. I'm happy to bring this back as Leleforest 2026 spring collection. The teas are all naturally grown and certified organic in China.
